Nearly six months after launch, Battlefield 2042 update 4.0 finally adds VoIP for Party and Squads. Lack of VoIP was a glaring omission at launch, with players expressing disappointment as update after update launched without the feature. It certainly didn’t help that DICE claimed that players often use Discord and other third-party applications to chat, assuming that players will link up with existing friends only.

As promised, Battlefield 2042 update 4.0 is loaded with fixes, improvements, and quality-of-life changes. Highlights include balance adjustments for Specialists, vehicle balancing, a fix for being unable to ADS after exiting a vehicle, and improved Ribbons and XP events.

“We’d like to thank you for your patience while we’ve worked to get this update into your hands, and we’re looking forward to your continued feedback once you’ve been able to hop in and play,” DICE wrote. “Our next update following this one is presently scheduled to release in May, and is focused on bringing further quality of life updates and bug fixes.”

Patch notes are as follows:

The behavior of many weapon attachments has been overhauled to ensure that their impact when customizing your weapons is unique, and noticeable. Previously, some attachments had effects that were too similar from others, and it was unclear what the impact on your weapons would be when switching between them. Here’s an example of updated behavior while customizing the AC-42:
