Students and families are invited to take in all of the festivities during Family Weekend from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

Elon University is looking forward to welcoming scores of families to campus Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 for the annual Family Weekend celebration. The weekend will provide families with the opportunity to spend time with their students, learn more about Elon, connect with Elon faculty and staff, and cheer on Phoenix football as they face the Richmond Spiders.

The weekend’s activities include a diverse slate of events ranging from Dancing in the Landscape in the Lambert Academic Village to Casino Night in Moseley Student Center.

Family Weekend will also include the first Speaker Series event of the year with Fall Convocation on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m. in Schar Center featuring speaker, actress and activist Ashley Judd. Tickets can be purchased for $15 through the Family Weekend website. Entry is free for students, faculty and staff with a valid Elon ID.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, families are invited to join President Connie Ledoux Book and members of Elon’s senior staff for coffee and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. at Young Commons. The event will be immediately followed by a university update from President Book at 9 a.m. in Alumni Gym.

Families can then connect with their student’s faculty members during Academic Connections from 9:30 to 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Phoenix Fan Fest Tailgate at Schar Center will give families and students the opportunity to enjoy food, lawn games, music, caricature artists, giveaways and music before cheering on the Elon football team in Rhodes Stadium at 2 p.m. as they kick-off against Richmond.

After the game, support Elon student performers at the ROCKapella event. There will be two performances at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are required and can be purchased in advance on the Family Weekend website.

McKinnon Hall, Moseley Student Center | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Check in and grab your student’s schedule for the faculty meet and greet on Saturday morning, tickets for pre-registered events, Family Weekend t-shirts, pocket guides, and other useful information. Don’t forget to grab a “proud” Elon sticker!

Alumni Gym, Koury Athletic Center | 1 – 1:45 p.m.

If your student is interested in studying abroad or taking advantage of one of Elon’s Study USA programs, join the Global Education Center staff to learn more information about programs, scholarships, and resources that Elon has to offer.

Heralded for starring in both box office hits and for her unforgettable performances in independent films, Ashley Judd is a renowned actress, humanitarian and political activist. One of the most vocal and influential figures of the #MeToo movement, Judd was named to TIME’s “Person of the Year” as one of the silence-breakers and change-makers who help shift the culture and conversation around sexual abuse and harassment. A feminist and social justice advocate, Judd serves as Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency; is the Global Ambassador for Population Services International; and is chairperson of the Women’s Media Center Speech Project: Curbing Abuse, Expanding Freedom.

Tickets are $15 per person and are general admission. Students may use their Phoenix Card to request one complimentary ticket for themselves from the Center for the Arts Box Office.

The Elon Wind Ensemble presents a concert near Lake Mary Nell in which they will perform a wide variety of band classics that you are sure to enjoy. Feel free to join us by singing or dancing and a lucky audience member will have the opportunity to conduct the ensemble.

Faculty artists invite Elon families and friends to a mixed program for voice, piano, percussion, wind, brass, and strings. This program has become a much-anticipated Family Weekend event since it began in 1999.

Moseley Student Center | 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. 

Join us for the annual Family Weekend Casino Night! Casino dealers will be onsite to host games like Blackjack, Roulette, Money Wheel, Poker and more! Leave your money at home – you’ll be given house money to play with at the door and have a chance to win great prizes!

Join President Connie Ledoux Book, members of Elon’s Senior Staff, and other Elon families for coffee and a continental breakfast to kick start your Saturday. Rain location: Koury Athletic Center Concourse.

President Book will welcome families and provide a university update.

Enjoy informal conversations with your student’s professors and learn more about classes at Elon. Professors will be available to discuss learning goals and objectives, major assignments, and general information about the course. Meeting locations are printed on your student’s guide that is available at check-in.

Cheer on the Phoenix as they take on fellow Colonial Athletic Association member, the Richmond Spiders. Tickets are available through the Family Weekend registration site and will be sent to you digitally. Tickets are final sale; no returns or exchanges. Students may use their Phoenix Card for a complimentary ticket in the student section.

Young Commons | 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. 

Join us on Young Commons for an evening of fun for the entire family to enjoy.

Martin Alumni Center | 9 a.m. – noon

McEwen Dining Hall, Clohan Dining Hall and Lakeside Dining Hall | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Help cap off your weekend with a special Family Weekend brunch served in three of our top-notch dining halls. Students joining their families can use a meal plan swipe for their meal.

Dozens of students in the Class of 2024 offered their time and talents in August to community agencies as part of the annual Elon Law Reaches Out service initiative organized by law school Orientation Mentors.

On Aug. 26, the Gender and LGBTQIA Center hosted its annual LGBTQIA New Student Welcome event in LaRose Student Commons. Students were able to begin developing strong interpersonal relationships and be able to able to connect with others in impactful ways.

The Health Outreach Program of Elon has partnered with the CityGate Dream Center to address healthcare disparities in Alamance County.

Thanks to the grant, the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education will host the conference, which will focus on inclusive technology tools and partnerships with multilingual students, families and communities.
