To celebrate 75 years of Land Rover, the British marque has revealed a limited-edition Defender – and 75 examples are coming to Australia.

The 2023 Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition has been revealed, with the limited-run variant due to arrive in local showrooms next April.

Land Rover is celebrating 75 years since the original Land Rover – the Series 1 – made its public debut with the Defender 75th Limited Edition – based on the model's X-Dynamic HSE variant.

The Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition is priced from $152,077 plus on-road costs in the three-door Defender 90 body style, while the five-door Defender 110 starts from $156,157 plus on-road costs – a $26,257 price increase compared to the Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE it's based on.

Land Rover Australia has announced 75 examples will be offered locally – 25 Defender 90s and 50 Defender 110s.

In a nod to the original Land Rover Series 1, all examples of the Defender 75th Limited Edition are painted in Grasmere Green – a new colour for the Defender – with the paint finish also applied to the model's 20-inch wheels and centre caps.

A unique '75 Years' graphic, Ceres Silver front and rear bumper inserts plus privacy glass complete the exterior additions compared to the Land Rover Defender X-Dynamic HSE.

The Grasmere Green finish has also been applied to the Defender 75th Limited Edition's door trim highlights and dashboard, complementing a laser-etched 'Defender' logo.

The Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition's seats are upholstered in the company's 'Resist' black synthetic leather, while the gear selector is wrapped in 'Robustec' fabric.

Additional equipment carried over from the Defender X-Dynamic HSE includes an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, 3D surround camera, wireless smartphone charging, head-up display, tri-zone climate control, 14-way heated first-row seats and a sliding panoramic roof.

Australian-delivered examples of the Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition will use the 'P400' turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 294kW/550Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and electric supercharger, Land Rover claims the P400 engine returns a combined fuel consumption figure of 9.9 litres per 100km.
