Only In Maine: Have You Seen Augusta's 'F U Janet Mills' Guy?

You can once again take an article that I have written and safely file it under the 'only in Maine' tab. The beauty of the first amendment here in the United States is that it allows you, with the exception of yelling fire in a crowded theater, to say pretty much whatever you want.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that over the last several years the political climate in America has all but reached a boiling point. The pandemic that came along, now more than a year ago, certainly added fuel to the already existing flames.

We've even seen hyper-polarization of parties here in the State of Maine. And, to be clear, I'm no avid Janet Mills supporter, but she was 'damned if she did' and 'damned if she didn't' with this pandemic (as so many other Governors were). When it came to the pandemic, no matter the choice she made, it would have upset one side of the political aisle or the other. In this case, it upset mostly people on the right.

Yesterday while driving to the KVYMCA for my workout, I drove by the Blaine House on State Street (as I always do). But this time, something was a little different.. When I drove by I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. There was an older gentleman sitting on the front steps (outside the security gate) of the Blaine House next to the sidewalk with a sign that read 'F U Janet Mills'. Yes, that's what it actually said. No, the 'F' word was not actually written out on the sign.

While I didn't vote for the current Governor, I certainly wouldn't want to wave an 'F U' sign around in front of her residence. But again, the first amendment is a beautiful thing and allows us all to speak our minds, regardless of what our minds may be speaking.

While I didn't think quickly enough to snag a photo, maybe you can? If you happen to see this guy over the next couple of days, take a photo if you can safely do so and send it our way!
