Susanna Reid and Ed Balls joked that they might have to do karaoke as Good Morning Britain’s live broadcast was interrupted by protestor Steve Bray singing an anti-Boris Johnson song following mass resignations from his cabinet.
The duo were hosting Wednesday’s show outside Westminster following the news that several ministers, including Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid had chosen to resign, leading to calls for the Prime Minister to step down.
Ed and Susanna were midway through a live link outside Parliament when Susanna looked visibly confused as loud music started blaring out from a PA system nearby.
‘What’s… sorry where is that coming from?!’, she laughed. ‘Are we about to do karaoke?’
Ed added: ‘It must be a new Downing Street tactic,’ as the pair of them started dancing to the track.
As the music kicked in, a voice started singing: ‘Bye, bye Boris, Boris, goodbye’ to the tune of the Bay City Rollers’ 1975 song Bye Bye Baby, with the camera panning to show the top of a man’s hat over a fence.
Realising who was behind the stunt, Susanna laughed: ‘Oh, it’s Steve Bray! It’s the latest Steve Bray protest isn’t it?
‘Well I suppose if you’re no longer allowed to shout, there are other ways of making your voice heard.’

As well as the musical interlude, protestors with placards calling for Mr Johnson to resign were repeatedly seen behind Ed and Susanna throughout the programme.
