A quadricycle couldn't possibly get better than this. Although the Concept looked more radical, this production model is practical and usable.

It all started with the Citroen Ami One Concept that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019, soon after which, the brand began getting a positive response to it. A year later, the French brand reveled the 2021 Ami electric quadricycle. It's 100 percent electric, and the intention with it was to introduce urban mobility for anyone unwilling to spend money on gasoline. Citroen has never failed to be innovative, coming up with solutions and products in such a manner, one could sense the passion behind it all.

The Ami was designed to be a practical response to future mobility; particularly for short travel. A city car for the masses, the Ami was to be the choice over public transportation and scooters. So far, nothing rivaled the concept in terms of a cost-effective, 100 percent electric mobility experience, without forgetting how important it was to make it accessible to the masses.

Now, with the 'My Ami Buggy', Citroen wants to make this production-ready urban runabout in limited numbers. Only 50 of these little electric quadricycles will be made, with sales starting from the 21st of June, in France and deliveries are will start from the 8th of August.

When the concept version of the production-ready Ami Buggy you see, was unveiled in 2021, it looked different. Citroen designed the concept, keeping in mind holidays by the sea and countryside. The intent of the concept was to be practical. Even the concept had no doors, but what's lacking from the concept on the production model is the sunroof and a lot more.

The production model does not have the wide, off-road-like tires from the concept. Although the production model still looks appealing, it has lost some of its adventurous character. The bull bars too, haven't made it to the production model, neither have the headlight and tail light grilles. Even the wheel arches on the production version aren't flared in the same way the concept model's are, plus notice the opening-gate like doors on the production model.

There is no roof-rack or spare wheel mounted on the roof either on the production model, and the body cladding has been toned down too. The production model has no LED light bar on the front of the roof, unlike the concept.

The doors we saw on the 2020 Ami, have been deleted, and the transparent rainproof panels on the 2021 concept didn't make it to the final product either. There's no visor above the windshield either. If only Citroen kept the original wheels from concept for the production model, it would've looked great. Again, on the inside, a lot of yellow accents and seats from the concept haven't made it to the production model.

The 'My Ami Buggy' borrows styling elements from the Ami Vibe and Ami Pop. The front and rear bumpers look different, plus there's added trim surrounding the lights along with wider wheel arches and a rear spoiler. We can easily imagine this being driven around in a Jurassic Park movie, in a protected environment. It somehow gives out those vibes.

The black-tinted protective bits give it a robust look, and with the Khaki color theme, a soldier can easily drive around in one whilst camouflaging in the woods. The yellow accents further give it a lively look, plus the 14-inch perforated gold wheels contrast well with the body color.

It also features hinged metal tubing instead of doors, and a removable soft-top for sunlight and breeze. Thinking about it, even wild life photographers could put the 'My Ami Buggy' to good use. The driver and co-passenger are exposed to the environment, and the fabric roof harks back to iconic Citroens, like the 2CV. The gray fabric roof material is waterproof and UV treated, in order to keep the occupants away from harsh weather. The roof fabric can be removed via snap fasteners, and can be rolled and stowed away behind the seats. Customers can also personalize their Buggy with any message of their choice, onto the front of little quadricycle.

The yellow trims on the outside reflect on the inside as well, with the dashboard storage bins, door opening straps and a bag hook, all in yellow. The black seat upholstery gets yellow stitching as well, as do the seams on the floor mats. The dashboard also features a special "My Ami Buggy Ultra Limited Edition' plate, with each vehicle comprising a number from 1 to 50.

Technical details haven't been revealed yet, but we suspect the 'My Ami Buggy' will come equipped with the same 5.5kWh battery from the regular Ami, which manages a range of 46 miles on a full charge. Top speed too, at 28mph, remains the same. Despite having lost much of the concept's charm, the Citroen 'My Ami Buggy' still appeals. We just hope the French car manufacturer considers producing it for the mass market, globally.
